Friends Help Friends Vote
Talking to your friends and family is the most effective way to increase voter turnout. By volunteering as a Voting Captain, you’ll get reminded about key voter registration and mail-in ballot deadlines to help the people you know vote.
How It Works
Turnout Nation equips Voting Captains, with resources to help mobilize their family and friends:
Learn how to be a Voting Captain
Attend a brief orientation on how to volunteer as a Voting Captain. Get some tips and tricks for getting out the vote.
Make a list of friends
Make a list of people you know who you want to help vote. See if you can get to 10!
Ensure They're Registered To Vote
If any of them are not registered, help them get registered!
Make an Impact
Make sure your friends vote on election day! You'll have support from an organizer and all the info you need on our handy phone app.
Organizing Fellows recruit and support a group of Voting Captains in their community before a local election. In addition to volunteer organizing, fellows also engage in research, planning, and outreach. Fellowships are 3-6 months depending on location.
Our Approach Works
In randomized controlled trials, our method of Voting Captain organizing was tested against traditional get-out-the-vote efforts:
10x more effective than door-to-door canvassing
Increases turnout by 13.2% - largest GOTV effect measured in 2 decades
Can be done safely online during the pandemic
